Our Family

Mike and I met in college. We spent the first 10 years in British Columbia, Canada where we had our first 2 children, Amber and Braden. We loved our time there with wonderful family and friends. But we felt the need to move to the States and have been here the past 11 years where Tanner and Jordan were born. We love the small town we live in, the wonderful people that are here, and being closer to Danae's family. We enjoy spending time together working and playing.

Jordan's third grade program

At the end of third grade, Jordan's class put on a litteracy program where they sang songs and did a readers theater in small groups.

Mama's birthday

Danae celebrated a very nice birthday. The husband and kids spoiled her rotten. Mike took her to Park City for a shopping spree and then to the Cheesecake Factory for some delicious food and, of course, cheesecake. A few days later the neighborhood friends gathered for a party. We ate strawberry stuffed french toast a'la Christianne and watched a fun musical movie.

One brave boy

Mrs. Gutierrez's 3rd grade class had a talent show. On the morning of the show, Jordan was still debating all his many talents that he could share with his class...riding his bike without hands, blowing a big bubble, or playing the piano. I was unsure of what he would decide. Even though playing the piano in front of a crowd was not top on his list, I tucked the piano book in his backpack, just in case. I was plesantly surprised when I watched him go to the piano and play his piece. (Perfectly, I might add) Since he is still pretty new at playing the piano, this was his first time playing in front of an audiunce. What a brave boy!

RAD Kids

Tanner had his RAD kids test and graduation. RAD stands for ...Resist Aggression Defensively. It is a program that teaches kids what to do if they are approached by a stranger. It is taught at our school by a policeman (he was dressed up in all the padding) and trained volunteers. They meet for months and have a test and graduation at the end. He had to pass 3 stations plus report what happened to his teacher. He was the first one to go through the circuit from his class, and was a little freaked out afterwards. He said it didn't bother him, but he stood by me for a long hug, while we watched the other kids. I thought the kids were very brave. It is scary to have a big-padded man come at you and grab you. Way to go Tanner!

Hope of America

Tanner was able to perform with 4,000 students in this year's "Hope of America" performance at the Marriott Center at BYU. The 5th graders made of the flag choir and our school was wearing blue. They did a great job singing and performing. The highlight was their last number where all the lights went out and the student’s flashlights came on looking like fireworks. There were many messages shared of patriotism. It was an awesome experience for all the students and audience.

In the blue section, if you count up 4 rows on the far left side you can see Tanner sitting on the end.

Yardwork

Two busy boys worked hard on Saturday helping their Dad get the garden ready for planting and all the dead grass out of the yard. Their hard work was rewarded with a private BBQ with Dad. Great job Tanner and Jordan!
